Music for Dia de Los Muertos

On the heels of Hallowe'en and the Day of the Dead, this November 4th, the UC Alumni Chorus remembers those who have inspired us with their work. The centerpiece of our "Dia de los Muertos" concert will be Mozart's Requiem, completed by Harvard Professor Emeritus of Music, Robert Levin. He takes 'Remembering' to the nth degree by stepping into and filling the shoes of Mozart like no one had managed before. In addition UCAC has commissioned a world premiere by Paul Ayres, a piece based on a 1957 sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The concert will also feature works by Elizabeth Alexander, Calixto Álvarez, Guido Lopez-Gavilan, Alberto Ginastera and Rodolfo Halffter. Soloists for the Mozart are Kate Offer, soprano; Ariel Andrew, mezzo soprano; Seth Arnopole, tenor and Rene Minneboo, bass.

The performance will be Sunday, November 4, 3:00PM at Hertz Hall on the UC Berkeley campus.

Tickets: $20 - $15 - $10.
Available at the door or online at brownpapertickets.com.

About the University of California Alumni Chorus
The UC Alumni Chorus is a thriving 100 member ensemble, composed
of Cal alumni, alumni of other UC campuses, and UC Berkeley faculty,
staff and graduate students. We perform a wide variety of music, ranging
from 16th century chamber choral works to traditional folk music and
20th century musical theater. The chorus is part of the University Choral Ensembles (UCCE) organization and is directed by Mark Sumner,
